Were you aware that this famous Jack Nicholson line in The Shining was unscripted? I wasn't, though this is one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Listverse clued me in with their "15 Great Scenes That Were Unscripted" post last week. Nicholson's improvised line is at #6. Fascinating.
Well, folks... this right here is one of the finest cases of "writing between the lines" that I've ever seen (saying what needs to be said without ever saying it). This is the kind of thing I strive for. And boy, I got a chuckle simply as a viewer, too. Talk about perfect miscommunication

My Mama dated James Brown waaaaaay back, during his early heyday. That's right--I could have easily been the Goddaughter of Soul.
